There will be NO SCHOOL on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH due to Election Day.
3RD ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FEAST: Please see our attached flyers for details and registration link!
THEME OF THE MONTH: November’s theme of the month will be GRATITUDE. This is a feeling of appreciation by a recipient of another’s kindness. This kindness can be in the form of help/support, favors, or another form of generosity to another person. Gratitude is when you feel thankful for the good things in your life. This could be stuff that people often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, friends, and family. Gratitude is taking a moment to reflect on how lucky you are when something good happens, whether it is big or small. Staff will be on the lookout this month for those students who best personify this theme.
Congratulations to all of our winners of October’s theme of RESPECT:

- reading and analyzing the irony, allusions and symbolism in the horror story “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs in ELA.
Community: Today, students in good academic and behavioral standing earned another fun Friday afternoon on the 3rd floor choosing from a menu of indoor and outdoor activities. Those unable to participate attended a study hall for extra help toward academic success.
Our GR8 teachers enjoyed an underground Spirit week that included a day carrying anything but a paper cup and dress like a student day! It took some time for our student sleuths to figure out what their teachers were up to! Doing our part to make coming to school an enjoyable experience whenever we can!
Music: Mrs. Fairbrother
Gr. 2: Students are wrapping up the unit on “In The Hall of The Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg. Students learned the story of Peer Gynt, played along with the song on boomwhackers and egg shakers and moved along to the beat (which gets pretty fast!).
Gr. 4: Students are finishing a minor song (“Ghost of John”) Students were able to sing in 2 parts, as well as play instruments to accompany themselves. We will resume our ukulele studies with some new songs and chords.
Gr. 5: Students will be starting guitar in class! They are learning the parts of the guitar, basic techniques and notes on the first string so they can play their first song (melody).
Gr. 7: Keyboard Unit: Students are working on the C Major scale patterns for both hands and will choose 1 of 3 songs to perform with 2 hands playing together.
Gr. 8: Keyboard Unit: Students are working on the song “Mary-Anne” which is written so the melody is played in their left hand and chords (harmony) in their right hand.
NEWS FROM OUR NURSES: We will be starting 7th grade screenings which include hearing, vision and height and weights. If your child wears glasses, please make sure you send them to school. If you have received a referral, please send it back as soon as possible. If your child has a physical, please send a copy to the health office so we may keep track of your child’s health needs at school.
Cold and flu season has arrived. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothes for the weather and using good hand hygiene to prevent getting sick. Proper cough etiquette is important to keep from spreading germs so please sneeze or cough into your elbow or a tissue.
