EVACUATION DRILL: I want to make everyone aware that as a school we conducted a practice evacuation drill this week. This drill was conducted in order for all of our students and staff to become familiar with our current Rally points. This was done in order to prepare for any of our upcoming ALICE drills throughout the school year. The purpose of our rally points is in the instance that we have to evacuate the building for any reason, that we all meet at these locations. Hunking has 2 rally points based on where you are located in our building and which is easier to get to. Our 2 rally points are Wood School and Lexington Ave. This was a very low-stress drill, and it went very successfully. We will be practicing this one more time next week (10/11) in order for students and staff to report to the opposite rally point that they were at this week.

THEME OF THE MONTH: We are now officially into our 2nd month of school, which means that it is time for a new theme. For the month of October we will be embracing a theme that goes right along with our first one of Kindness. October’s theme of the month will be RESPECT. Respect is also called esteem and is a positive feeling or deferential action shown toward someone or something considered important or held in high esteem or regard. It is valuing someone’s views and feelings even if you don’t necessarily agree with them. It is accepting them on an equal basis and giving them the same consideration you would expect yourself. Respect is important because it can help people feel safe and express themselves. Ways that you can show respect include, being kind & courteous, being polite, avoiding interrupting or causing disturbances, listening to others, and thinking before you speak. Staff will be on the lookout this month for those students who best personify this theme. Also, stay tuned to find out who our winners are for September’s theme of Kindness! It is likely that assemblies will be held the week of 10/15.
