Bobcat Bulletin 8/30/24

NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND TO CELEBRATE LABOR DAY

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL: I would like to thank everyone for a successful and safe 1st week back to school! It has been great seeing the students again and hearing all of their great stories from this summer and to see how much they have all grown! I am very excited to partner with our whole Hunking community to make this an amazing school year!

KINDERGARTEN: We will be welcoming all of our new Kindergarten students to Hunking for their very first day of school on Wednesday, September 4th! We can’t wait!!

HUNKING’S 3RD ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY: Mark your calendars for this coming Thursday evening, September 5th from 5:00-7:00pm for Hunking’s 3rd Annual Block Party! This is Hunking’s 1st Community Event of the School year, and you don’t want to miss it! We are partnering with our wonderful PTO to make this event happen, and they have helped us book The Party Fun again, who will be bringing face painters, airbrush artists, a balloon twister, cotton candy, popcorn and pretzels. These events/games will be ticketed items like last year. We will also have food available for purchase to include, the ice cream truck, Lisa’s Dogs (offering hot dogs, soda, chips and chili for purchase), Grace’s Kitchen (offering chicken tenders, steak and cheese, chicken sandwiches, fried apps and fried dough), and La Pizza Di Forno. We will also be providing some free games as well. This should be an amazing event, and it is a great way to kick off our school year, so we hope that you will all attend!

THEME OF THE MONTH: We will continue at Hunking with our promotion of a theme of the month. And it is only fitting to start our first month of school with the theme that is part of the number one rule at Hunking. The theme for our first month will be KINDNESS. The definition of kindness is simply being friendly, generous, and considerate. It is part of the golden rule: treat others the way that you want to be treated. Kindness is the quality of being caring and helpful. We hope that everyone in the Hunking community will embrace this theme with us, and jumpstart an amazing school year. Staff will be on the lookout over the next month for the students that most personify this theme!

NEWS FROM GUIDANCE

Welcome Back to all the students!!!

School Counselor: Terri Carney terri.carney@haverhill-ps.org

Parents/Guardians of 7th graders: If your student is interested in attending a specialized high school program in 9th grade (to include Classical and CTE at HHS) or a high school other than HHS (such as Whittier, Phillips, Central Catholic, etc), 7th grade counts!! The various voc and private high schools have gotten very competitive. Attendance, Grades and Behavior ALL count and are factored into the student’s score which is used for their acceptance. Please remind your student how important 7th grade is for their future plans.

Parents/Guardians of 8th graders:

On the horizon: HHS will have a “High School Roadshow” during the school day for 8th grade students two times this fall. HHS will visit Hunking during the school day to provide a wealth of information to students. The visits will be on September 27th and October 25th for 8th grade students only.
