Grade 8: Grade 8 students attended the “HP3 Careers” assembly this week and heard from different local professionals about their career paths. Students got great information and again asked insightful questions. Grade 8 teachers are accepting any donations of cleaning supplies and personal care items (Lysol wipes, tissues, travel-size deodorant, etc.) as well as classroom supplies (fine-tip dry-erase markers). Believe it or not, ELA MCAS for grade 8 starts Tuesday! Please make sure that students come to school well rested and with a silent reading book to read when completed with testing as they will not have access to Chromebooks once they have completed their MCAS. Water and a small (quiet) snack are permitted, but distracting snacks will not be allowed.

Grade 7: Students will be taking the ELA MCAS next Tuesday April 2nd. It is important that students get a good night’s sleep Monday night and eat a good breakfast. Please make sure that students are coming to school with a fully charged chromebook and an independent reading book. Students are allowed to bring an individual snack for after testing but loud or family sized snacks will not be allowed.

NEWS FROM OUR NURSES:  There has been an uptick in conjunctivitis at the school in the past couple of weeks. Bacterial conjunctivitis is highly contagious, so please remind your child to wash their hands well and often with warm water and soap. They also should not share eye drops, tissues, eye makeup, washcloths, towels, or pillowcases if they are diagnosed with conjunctivitis  (pink eye), he/she must be treated for 24 hours before returning to school. Please call the health office at 978-420-1913 if your child will be absent.

Mandatory Postural/Scoliosis screenings will be wrapping up during the week of April 1st during gym class. The Purpose of the screening is to detect possible curvature of the spine in children. If the condition is detected early and appropriately treated, progressive spinal deformity may be prevented.

If your child was given a vision or hearing referral, please make sure it is sent back to the health office after seeing an eye or hearing specialist. Stay healthy and enjoy the three day weekend.

ATHLETIC NEWS:

EARLY SPRING TRACK SIGN UP

My fellow coaches and I are excited for our upcoming 2024 track season! I am hoping to get a good idea as to how many kiddos are interested in joining us this year, so I wanted to create this form to make sign-ups easier. SPRING TRACK SIGN UP

(*This sign up link has also been added to our school website*)

Prior to the beginning of the season I will follow up with students/parents that have filled this form out to confirm if they are still interested. We will still have a “sign up” available in-person as we have in the past; however this form can expedite that process.

Last, but certainly not least, if your athlete took part in a school sport during this year (2023-2024) you do not need to fill out another health participation packet.Only the first and last page is needed. If not, the entire packet needs to be filled, current physical submitted, signed and returned before participation is permitted.

Our main office retains hard copies for students to take home, but I have also included the link below if you’d prefer to print out and return ahead of time.

HPS (Middle School) Sport Permission Packet

When our season officially commences I will provide practice dates, schedules, meet information and all things track via our Remind class link (see below).

Track Family Remind Link

As always thank you for your continued support and please reach out should you have any questions!
