Dear Families and Friends:


As we approach the last days of summer- School is upon us! Cheers can be heard throughout the land.


Our OPEN HOUSE is this Monday, August 30. The times and spaces are all listed on our website from last week’s Friday Folder. All being held outdoors. And if you are a new student- and signed up for a tour, Shelley MacRae wrote back to you with a time. You will meet your tour guide at the same spot the classroom teachers are doing their overview. Let’s all do the good weather dance and hope for the best! 


Today, the student portal will open with the class lists. As I said last week, the teachers and my administrative team take great care to create well-rounded classrooms. We have a wonderful staff and your students will be back in the swing of things quickly as we all prepare to ensure a supportive, and welcoming place for them to call “home” for the next year. 


First Day of School ~ Grades 1-8 is Tuesday, August 31. 8:30-2:45

Kindergarten Screening by appointment- through 9/2. School starts for Kindergarten September 8. 

BREAKFAST will be served starting the first day of school. Drop off may begin at 8:00am for breakfast and it is in the cafeteria.



As you know, the DESE Commissioner of Education has mandated that all staff and students wear a mask in school at least until October. All students must wear a mask on school buses as well. We will have plenty of mask breaks and many classrooms will have outside activities.

The administrative team has measured the distance at our cafeteria tables and marked off seats (X) so that students are separated by three feet, which is the suggested space while eating. The desks in classrooms will all be facing the same way.

 Hand sanitizers are throughout the building. We ask that if your student does not feel well- please keep them home from school.


HPS Student Technology Device Policy- attached to this newsletter, describing a device waiver fee covering damage to the Chromebooks. Please read carefully.


The PTO also has a letter attached and is very excited to be setting up tables for the Open House and meeting parents and enrolling new families. (See attached letter).


Transportation: We will be handing out bus passes Tuesday. Check out for the latest bus information. It is not updated yet- check back Monday.


Our drop off and pick up procedure is attached- please follow the diagram.


I look forward to meeting you all Monday. It’s going to be a great year. We can handle all issues that may come our way- we are all in this together! If ever you have a question- just let me know.
